Do I need to deworm to make my eggs safe for human consumption

I read recently that if one plans to use chicken eggs for human consumption, it is recommended to use a dewormer a month before the chickens start laying eggs.

Is this accurate? Are there other diseases or health issues that can make eggs unsafe to eat?

Some medicines make eggs unsafe to eat, but unless your hens have a specific disease or if they are taking medicine that makes the eggs unsafe for consumption, the eggs are always edible. If one of the mentioned above occurs, you should do more research. No need to deworm before laying starts if nothing is wrong. In fact, deworming too much is harmful to the hens. Have fun with your flock! :)
