Not sure what breed...age is approximately 4-5 months. We were told they were all girls, but it sounded like Buttercup was trying to crow this morning. (Buttercup is the brown chicken)

I agree with keesmom that it's a Lakenvelder but I'm on the fence about gender. It's sporting a good bit of comb/wattle but then this is a Mediterranean type so I'm looking at the color and it isn't cockerel red. :confused:I'd give it a couple weeks and see. Males should show rooster feathers pretty young.
Thank you!!

Hello - I'm hoping you can help me determine the breed of my 6 chicks. They are 7 weeks old. Was told they were Ameracauna but I'm aware they are more than likely not. I apologise for the poor pictures... apparently sitting still for photos is not a chicks strong suit :)
Also, I'm concerned we might only have 2 hens. The all dark (brown/red) and the white & black one are the only two without a pronounced comb. (Pictures 4 & 5)
I appreciate any and all help! :love

Where did you get them? Most look like red sexlink crosses. All look like mixes but they don't have any of the traits I'd expect in EEs or Ameraucana crosses so I'm doubtful they are EEs.

And yes, at 7 weeks, those with developed, reddened combs are likely cockerels.

Its a little early to tell, they look like females

It's tough to say with just down color for a clue. I'd suggest asking after they feather out if you still aren't sure. Unfortunately, there are several that can look very much alike at this age and without comb type, leg color, or whether the legs have feathers, we'd just be naming off heavy breeds with light or red plumage.

Thanks. I'll post more photos in a month once they have feathers. I'll try to get their legs and a head shot and full profile.

These are 4 week old chicks from part of a Cackle Hatchery "Surprise" box. Some of them I can figure out the breeds, but a few are ?!?! If you can comment on sex, I would appreciate it!
