We have four 8-week old chickens (1 blue, 1 red/brown, and 2 black) and are wondering about both genders and breeds. I know they are probably mixes but guesses are still interesting. Getting pictures is tough, hope these work. TIAView attachment 1070576 View attachment 1070578 View attachment 1070581 View attachment 1070585 View attachment 1070589
Mixed breeds. The blacks and the Blue look like Easter Egger mixes. The gold might have Buff Orpington in him. Two cockerels, two pullets.

I am asking as many people as possible. Who can tell me if my almost six week old SLW is a pullet or a cockerel. Thanks in advance!

Hi! Hoping someone can help me. I acquired 4 chickens from a woman in Minnesota who is moving to a Mpls. suburb that doesn't allow chickens. When I asked her if this was a rooster she said, "Oh no, Edina doesn't allow roosters". I just smiled.

But, I have no idea what breed or gender this handsome bird is, although a fellow chicken fancier thought it might be an Old English variety. The other hens are quite nice, a very sweet Buff Orpington, pretty Barred Rock and lovely Rhode Island Red.

Looks like a easter egger mix, also a rooster

Thanks! It will be interesting to see what he looks like when he is a little older. I didn't think I wanted a rooster, but he is very friendly and lovely to look at. I think I will feel better with additional protection for my, now 8, hens.
You're welcome! He's a beautiful rooster!
