Do you have any images? Duplex[or double] combs are a trait of certain breeds, with the duplex 'single' comb[which is called a Buttercup comb] being a trait of the Sicilian Buttercup breed.V combs like in Polish and La Fleche are also a form of duplex comb.

Ive just been informed by partner that woukd be the wynadott in him-her....ive got a right mix..lol

Ah yeah, Wyandotte rose combs do look a bit like double combs when they are young, with the two little ridges in front

The hens have a Single Comb?
Crossing Single and a Rose Comb can give you a Double Comb.
The Rooster below is out of a Rose/Single Comb cross.

That's still a rose comb but the typical two ridges do look to be more pronounced in heterozygous rose comb birds.

Just ran out to my coop to get these shots....

this one is a 14 week old, BR mix...not sure what it is mixed with...it has this comb and a tuft of feathers on its head, and white legs....
