duck house in a pond

Well , I'm wondering if I've made a mistake . I haven't got my ducks yet but have been building their house ready for them . I thought it would be a good idea to build it in the middle of the pond on our land so that there would be no problem with predators . However I've just learnt that ducks don't go to bed like chickens do ! Can they be trained by keeping them in for a few days the way you do with chickens ?

actually if they have an island or anything in the middle of the pond/lake they see that as an extremely safe place so they should go in there anyway

If the ducks find it to be a safe place to stay they will(should).
