Hello,
I found one of my 6 week old ducklings with a mangled wing. It appears something tried to reach in and grab her but was unable to do so, however she is alert but her wing is a bloody mess and there is a bone protruding. We got the bleeding to stop and she seems to be stabilized after applying wound care and triple antibiotics upon bandaging her up.
I am worried about infection but more so worried about the bone that is sticking out. Is this something we need to remove or would it be more humane to put her to sleep? Trying to figure out all options right now.
Like I did mention before, she is stabilized and eating and drinking just fine. (I added some aspirin to her water)
