Hey , I have my first duckling hatched today. He came out all except the bottom. He has the yolk attached to him and isn’t absorbed all the way, we’ve wrapped him back up in a damp washcloth and put him back in the incubator , is there anything else to do ?

Just keep an eye on him. Try to keep it moist without breaking it. You can use a smidgeon of Vaseline (or any non medicated ointment). Otherwise just make sure as the others hatch they can't get at him because they might peck at him.

Thank you ! I’ve been trying my best not to mess with him unless he accidentally covers his face. I want to make sure he’s able to breathe still.

I might do that. Thank you so much. I was worrying so much because I’ve lost three ducklings now for unknown causes and don’t want to lose these. The others just stopped developing , they are crested so I figured that’s why and I don’t want to lose anymore.

Update : he or she made it. Thank you everyone !
