Ducklings running away

Overnight my ducklings went from sitting on my lap and following me around to running from me. (5wks old). What happened ?

Any insight?

Try sitting or laying down and let them come up to you and eat treats out of your hands without picking them up or holding them

A lot couple hours in the morning mid afternoon and then the evening. If I sit down they are all over me but if I get up and walk they run honking.

I went through this with my ducks, too. Try not to appear like a predator. Don't walk directly at them. When you are standing don't look directly at them. I actually crawled until I was far enough away from them and then stood up. Basically, just don't do anything that is scary to them. They'll get over it, but it might take a while.

Oh, mine didn't like sudden movements, or being surprised either. I let them teach me. If they found something upsetting I didn't do it. That way they associated me with food and safety instead of scary stuff.
