Help!! I really want to gather our eggs from our khaki campbells. However, they are laying the eggs in the pond. Any advice as to how to get them to lay outside of water? They have a coop, fenced around so predators cant get them. However the fence has an opening in the pond part so they are free ranging. And can go where they please.

Ducks generally lay their eggs early in the morning (more regularly than chickens), if you can keep them fenced until 8:00 or 9:00 am your eggs *should* be in their pen.

I realize that this may mean modifying your existing setup.

Also, for some reason, they may not think their existing designated nest spot is ideal, so maybe that can be improved on to make it the most appealing place to lay.

gawd, I home mine don't do that, their pond is kinda deep :fl

I agree with above, keep them penned up for a couple hours in the morning. I lock mine up at night, even though they gripe and complain the whole time, then I let them out around 6:30 in the a.m. Might have to change that once they start laying.
