So I am in the future planning to have a coop separate for egg color genetics. This is kinda what I’m thinking and tell me if I’m on track or what I should add or take out. I want a ameraucana rooster to breed with my ameraucana hens along with olive egger hens and marans. Is that a good set to start out with? When a ameraucana breeds with ameraucana that would equal an ameraucana
When ameraucana breeds with olive egger the baby would most likely lay a lighter green egg?
and when a ameraucana and maran breed with baby would most likely lay olive correct?
the breeds I would have in the coop are
- ameraucana
-marans
- olive egger
- Whitting true blue
- whitting true green.

Ameraucana x Olive Egger 50 percent green, 50 percent blue. (If the Olive Egger is an F1)
Ameraucana x Marans would give you 100 Olive. If I were you, I’d make the Marans the father. That would give you slightly darker eggs. Unless you don’t want dark eggs of course.
Good set up!
