I am a new chicken owner and thought that Ameraucana's layed blue eggs. Our Ameraucana that we got as a chick from Meyer's just laid it's first egg and it is pretty solid green. Does anyone have any experience with this? We love the chicken, she is very cute and spunky but I was surprised that the egg wasn't blue.

Thanks!

Please post a photo of the pullet.

I could not find any recent ones but I hope this helps.

Thank you for your observation. I new that the sexes got mixed up sometimes but the breed??? that shocked me. I took a closer look at her feet this morning and I'm not sure what a 5th toe is supposed to look like but her's is like an off shoot of the toe in the back. Is that normal? She is one of my favorites but I would like to be accurate in what she is. Thanks!

5th toe is the extra coming off the fourth, or behind the fourth.

Breed mix ups happen sometimes.

Is there any chance you added a note asking for a substitute chick if a particular breed didn't hatch?

She's beautiful 😍

Thank you everyone for your help. I contacted Meyers and they confirmed that she is a green queen. Although I did want blue eggs she is a really good chicken and the green eggs are a pretty green so I don't mind too much. Just good to know.

Can you post pics of the green eggs? I’m curious. At least she was a beautiful (and fun egg color) mix up! I wouldn’t be mad either 😆
