Egg colors

Pictures of your birds would be very helpful, perhaps they aren't the breed they were reported to be? And if they aren't pure breed (as you mentioned one isn't in your first post) that could account for the lighter color eggs.

My wife or I will try to get a picture of them and post.
The reason I'm wondering if there eggs will get darker, is because my sister has been raising chickens for several years now and she purchases hers from the same place and her Welsummer's lay nice dark brown eggs with black spots and her Marans lay beautiful dark chocolate eggs.

I have a BCM pullet that is approx 9 months old. She hasn't laid an egg yet, but for the last month or so she has acted real wierd. She acts like she can't walk forward very well. She takes a few step forward then she stumbles back wards. She strains like she's trying to lay an egg, but I've checked and as far as I can tell there isn't an egg. I thought she was egg bound but no sign of an egg. She eats and drinks fine, doesn't seem to be loosing weight! Help?
