egg shell question?

i went out to collect eggs today and i picked up a couple of eggs and they shell broke in my hand not just one egg but 2. is there something wrong with my chickens or are the shells becoming soft?. what could i give my chickens to help with there shell they have been laying for about 1 1/2 years any help would be appreciated

It sounds like the egg shells are thin. This should be easily solved by adding more calcium to their diet. Like free choice oyster shells or even the shells of their own eggs (after you use the egg and then feed the shell back to the hens).

sounds like they are not getting enough calcium in their diet. Definitely give their shells back to them. What kind of food are you using?
