Eggbound duck

My almost 2 year old khaki Campbell, Amelia, is having problems with an egg. Looks like she is pushing with now luck. She is eating, drinking, foraging, and pooping. I soaked her in a warm epsom salt bath for 30 min and then let her rest. She does seem tired and hurting. She did lay a good egg yesterday so its just been today. I bought some Calcium Gluconate 23% from TSC and pick it up tomorrow. Im wondering what the calcium does for a bound egg? When should I take her to the vet? As soon as possible or is there a grace period where she might lay? Any advice would be much appreciated!

When you get the calcium gluconate give her 1ml and if she's egg bound you'll probably have an egg sometime tomorrow. Do you know how to give oral meds? If not here is a link on how to do it.

I see in your post you mention she is out foraging, if she is egg bound, she should be kept preferably in a dog kennel somewhere inside the house for now until the egg passes.

Thanks so much everyone! She was able to pass her egg the next day. Before bed she ate a good amount of food with extra calcium and drink nutridrench water. It seemed to help! I got the calcium gluconate for TSC and I'm very happy to have it on hand, as I have 4 laying girls, 2 of which have had some minor issues. One girl had bad bumblefoot last year and had to have treatment for four months. I learned how to give ducks meds, both liquid and pill form, from that experience.
