Electric fence

Hi All,

planning to fence off around half an acre for my poultry however cannot decide what fencing to put up. I thought I had decided on green chain link 2m high with electric fence wire top and bottom and some chicken wire dug in however my brother has suggested purely using electric wire as I can put strands every 10cm or so and go up to 2m and it would be a lot cheaper. Would a purely electric strand "fence" keep out badgers, foxes and boar. We are in the UK so I can't think of anything else I need to keep out!

Might keep the predators out, but wouldn't keep the chickens in.
2m fence might not keep the chickens in either, unless that wire at top was up over the chainlink by about 4-6"(10-15cm).
