*EMERGENCY* INTERNAL LAYING

Internal laying is when a chicken’s oviduct throws the egg of the tract. There is tons of egg yolks inside of my chicken from this. This is an emergency and I need advice quickly. She is huge, she walks like a penguin, and she is wheezing. What should I do? In the picture there is a bright red/pink spot and that is just her feathers. The picture isn’t very good. Yep, that huge thing is her abdomen cavity. I just gave her an epsom salt bath so she looks a little bare and looks a little bigger than she actually is. Her abdomen is almost touching the ground and her legs are farther to the side than they should be. PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT I SHOULD DO I AM HOPING TO SAVE HER.

Do I need to drain her abdomen? Also what meds can help?

I can’t do that to one of my birds. Are you sure there isn’t any antibiotics for infections?

We have not been able to save birds with this condition in the past. Very sorry.

Poor honey. There's nothing you can do, I'm sorry. She's in pain like that, you need to put her down. You can use a closed container with dry ice or starting fluid.

No, it can't be successfully treated, or cured.

I don't like putting birds down myself, but I push through it.

I use the broomstick method to put mine down.

I just found out it is ascites and I have a cure. Liver supplement and kickin chicken

Ascites can't be cured either, only managed. Even in the end the bird will have to be put down. It's a chronic condition.

There's a few things that can cause Ascites: Liver problems, heart problems, or reproductive issues.
