Hiya friends,

I just have a quick question and wondering about when I should give my chicks a little tray of dirt to expose them to the native flora and fauna around here. I will be getting them March 15th. I was just wondering when would be a good time to do so. They're not vaccinated for Cocci. Also, with all the snow melting everything is gonna be pretty damp and moist. So would it be advised to get the dirt from the run or around it and let it sit inside for a day or two to let it dry some?

Thank you for any advice,
Ry.

I give my chicks dirt on day one. I dont provide grit so I want to make sure they start finding it on their own right away. 14 chickens later and it's never failed me
Thank you, much for the tip. I think the last time when I raised my chicks years ago I put it in within the first week or so. So I just wanted to make sure I figured it would be fine. But i suppose there is no harm in asking questions!

Thanks!
