I thought turkeys were supposed to loose all the feathers on their heads, not grow new ones...
This is Doodle a week ago:

Here's a close-up I took while she was sleeping:
At first I worried it was mites or fleas, but all the pictures I can find of sticktight fleas online show them as actually looking like bugs--glossy, beady little things. As you can see, the black specks are tiny and fine, just like the yellow down that is remnants of her poult-fluff. Do sticktight fleas start out super super tiny, like, a bazillion of them coating a little down feather so it looks completely black? Anyone have any ideas?
