Finelyfound
Chirping
We got rid of our jerk rooster 6mths ago. About half of our laying flock of 17 had feather loss on their backs. Now 6mths later almost all of them still have the same feather loss, just bare red backs. Some are worse than others, some have had some regrowth. One very timid hen has a completely bare back and now some feather loss on her face. I'm worried that they are picking at each other and no one is growing feathers again. The hen with the large feather loss I catch occasionally and spray with blue cote in the hopes of keeping the others away from her. It is a VERY traumatic experience for her. I have not personally seen any of them pick at each other, but as a newish chicken owner I don't know why they all still have bare backs. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
