We have about two or three chickens that are just missing feathers on their backs. Does anyone know why this is? What I can do to help them? They have been like this for several months! Thank you in advance for any help.

Could be for several reasons. Check out the Learning Center for help. I had the same problem but mine just ended up being on a moult. Some people suggested mites, lice, lack of protein, not enough water, being hen pecked. The new feathers do take quite a while to grow. I would check for mites in the first instance and work from there.

Good luck

I heard that featherless chickens are meat birds. I'm still not sure though. you can still have a turken or a showgirl though.

Usually it takes about a year for birds to molt but if their not molting you might want to check them for lice or mites.
