I agree with the other posts, the birds can go through several molts their first year. You may notice feathers and sometimes you may not if they are going through a light molt. After their first year they generally molt once a year. Birds can go through very light molts or very heavy molts. Some that molt go through such a light molt that you can barely tell they are molting and others may loose a lot of feathers that they are practically naked.
