feed storage idea

I also use galvanized 30 gal trash cans with good lids, this keeps out the critters better than anything else and since i store my feed out side next to coop they handle the weather well. I use a chest freezer to store the unopened feed sacks, also works great. I have seperate cans for= Layer, starter, gamebird, DE, and scratch.

metal is the way to go if in a barn where varmints are wandering.

I used a rubbermaid heavy duty garbage can type thing for my horse feed...yup, rat chewed threw the bottom...and it was THICK plastic.

I now use only metal 55 gallon drums for all feed.

If your plastic is in a barn situation, turn the barrel to check the other side every now and then...those suckers are sneaky on the backside...that is where mine made his entrance.

I use large trash cans with tight fitting lids and I also reuse the 5 gallon buckets that my horse supplement comes in because it has a nice lid on it. Oh and I use a sharpie to write on the outside of each so I know what's in it without having to take lids off all of them.
