I've been trying the DE on my fire ants. Can't tell if it does anything to them. I never find dead ants. So I started smothering them with it. That seems to keep them out of the run. But outside I plan to use the amdro and cover method. Be careful to cover the stuff you could be killing song birds and not know it. There seems to be about half of the people saying chickens eat ants and half saying they taste bitter and chickens don't like them. I can't stand them! I get bit almost every day. Punks.

To the person who said to drown fireants and feed them to the chickens, then chickens would get a taste for them: How do you drown them? Seems like they'd swarm up and out of any container. I'm guessing you'd have a jar w/ a lid w/ water in it, then scoop them w/ a shovel and dump them in, put the lid on really fast? They swarm so fast, I don't know that I'd be able to get it done before they're coming up my legs.

I also use food grade DE, but can you hang your feeders?

I don't get near them. They get bifenthrin all day long from a granule or a spray from me. Dang whelps stay for a month on me.
