FIRST GEESE! I love them already!!!!

We got our 2nd Cackle Hatchery order of the year. This is the order I was the most excited for. My fiance and I ordered each other Christmas gifts from the hatchery and they are finally here!!!!!

He bought me 6 goslings! A trio of white Embdens, and a trio of (If I remember right) africans. They are sooool cute!!!

These are my first geese, and we want to raise them to be friendly to us. Any tips on this, or on goose keeping in general?

Whithin minutes of picking one up out of the shipping box I had already been pooped on. Hahaha

Eta: one of the gifts I got him was a trio of blue Swedish ducks. Sadly one was doa. They did include that little red duckling in the hatchery surprise box we also ordered, so he/she is now Mr. Bug's as well. Seemed only fair since one of his babies was the only doa.

Congratulations
I got my goslings on Wednesday (I ordered in March so it felt like for ever). Yes they poop a lot. This isn’t an exaggeration. But they are sure worth it. They make the cutest noises and have personalities right out of the box. They also love their greens.

Oh! For the food, I never actually looked up what chick feed they should be on. I assume low protein non medicated just like ducks. Is this correct?

I have mine on Mazuri waterfowl starter. They love it.

Yes! Just be sure to add some additional niacin, since geese need even more than ducks. I'm feeding Purina Flock Raiser with added niacin in the form of b-complex vitamin water and some nutritional yeast.

I have mine on Mazuri waterfowl starter. They love it.

I also fed Mazuri Waterfowl Starter when mine were younger.
