I ordered some assorted coturnix quail eggs from Meyer hatchery. A family member will be taking them once they are hatched. I set 21 eggs yesterday in my Kebonnix incubator, with 2 eggs per compartment. The pointy parts are pointed toward the outside. After a trial with the turner, keeping points toward the inside caused some of the pointy ends to point upward. Trial and error here. I did not add water yesterday as dry humidity was between 45-50%. Any words of advice would be greatly appreciated, along with encouragement! I have incubated lots of chicken eggs, but these spotted quail eggs are much more difficult to see into with a candler! Luckily my candler has a small piece that makes the end small so it fits perfectly on bantam or quail eggs. Thanks for joining me!

Humidity hovering around 44%, without adding water. It’s been raining quite a bit. I’ve never done a dry hatch, but I don’t see a need to add water right at this point.

What day should I candle to see if anything is growing? Same as chicken eggs?

I'd say day 10 is a good day. It's when the chicks grow so big the egg goes red and black when candle compared to a infertile egg that is yellow and seethrought when candled. Although day 7 is better according to some other people I know.

Well you know me.... Lol. I checked on day 3..... Haahaa. I had one egg like yours. Others were Celadon. Here are some pics of mine on day 3.

Oh their pips are soooooo tiny you can miss them! I had to stare at the eggs really hard to see the pips!

Oh they are such tiny eggs, and I think it will be super difficult to see pips with all the speckled on the eggs. They are so cute though, and I love quail eggs (for eating), so I hope this works out and my aunt gets a lot of females! If so, I will be offering quail next year in addition to my chick hatches! 😊

Even on my solid eggs I couldn't really see the pips since they are so tiny some like a hairline fracture. Lol
