I have a roo that is part of a flock of 6 red ranger roos and 6 laying hens. Everyone gained up on this roo and he is hurt pretty bad. I thought I could just heal him up to last the 4 more weeks until he is 12 weeks old, but it looks like one of the wounds (they are on the joint connecting the wing to the body, one on each side) might be showing signs of infection. It looks off color compared to the other side. Is it still safe to eat him? My kids are at an afterschool thing tonight so I have 2 hours tonight to get it done.

We cut that area off, so we should be ok. It would have only been there a few hours, so I don't think it had time to travel. Definitely a learning experience, butchering our first chicken.
