DH and I made a homemade incubator out of an old cabinet that we found in the barn. I then made a hatcher so that I could put duck and chicken eggs in at the same time. I made the hatcher out of an Omaha steak cooler. I didn't have a lid but I found piece of glass that covers the whole top. Made viewing extremely easy!

I put in out barnyard mixed eggs. Our hens are RIR, BO and an EE. Roosters are a Black Jersey Giant and EEs.

I put 29 in and lost 4 early, 25 went into the hatcher and 22 chicks came out! 88% hatch rate!

First little beak showing!
