Food in the coop too?

Hello all, I was wondering if I could get help with my new coop. We made a Waterer and feeder in the run, but when the chicks go inside the coop at night, do we need food and water inside too? Last night was the first night in the new coop, (they did great!) but I didn’t know if they go all night without eating and drinking, so put some in there.

Totally agree with feathered planets. There's no real reason for them to be eating or drinking up there. They go to roost and to lay. ...and to poop all night.

They'll go down to the run and their supplies when the sun comes up and not starve overnight.

Of course birds in a brutally cold climate might like to avoid some of the exposure. In that case they might have food and water where the shelter is but in Central Cal your flock will be fine in their run.

Ya, even tho it’s often cold and damp because of the marine layer/fog, it typically is only low 50s at night. Only in the winter do we get down to freezin.
