I wouldn't touch peanut butter as a kid. Now I will. I think everything else I didn't like was simply because I had my mother as a cook, who was a better cook than her mother, and we'll leave it at that.
Tomatoes, mushrooms, eggplant, and anything my Dad made. He thought of himself as a male Julia Child but nothing he made was edible to anyone but him (iron stomach.) Now he watches Emeril LaGasse and I still won't eat it! but I like tomatoes.
I like Brussel sprouts now. I also have learned that fresh veggies are good. Mom cooked them until they were mushy. She boiled everything, then, she drained the water (and the healthy stuff) and made us choke down whatever weird textured stuff remained. I still can't stand mom's cooking. Not everything needs to be cooked until the flavor and texture are gone.
