I would not do that you will end up with a way overbred female. Who will end up scalped you would want at least 4 females

It's not a good idea. It might work if you keep them separate then put them together for a few minutes to breed then separate them again, but that would be cruel since quail are social and need company.

Edit: This is assuming that you're talking about coturnix quail. Other types of quail do well in pairs.

But I agree with Nabiki even if you kept them separated they would become lonely
