Friends Chickens Love Me!

My friends chickens are in live with me! the smaller/darker hen, Sophia, is very skittish and doesn't like people at all. The larger and lighter colored hen, Laurie, is quite social and loves most people. Both chickens come running to me when ever I open the coop! I really like them my self, and I love watching them. I gave them grass and hay to eat/dig in and they are very happy hens!

Aw they are cute. They like it when you visit. It looks like they like scratching in the grass you gave them. The only problem with long grass is if they eat it whole it can tangle in their crop and block their digestion. When they pick at long grass still attached at the roots they break little pieces off, so there is less risk of it getting stuck in the crop. Sorry to be a downer, but impacted crop is no fun. That is why when I bring green treats to the chickens, I rip the grass in small inch long bits or give them the clover leaves stripped off the stems.
