Estelle wondered how they managed to get to the ponds, but didn't bother to ask. She picked up the wood. "Well, I've got to go. Hopefully the fish is still where I left it," she said abruptly.

Evron nuzzled him, after all, it was his own son. "Would you like to live with us? The fowls could be friends, and I could offer protection."

Estelle did likewise, heading towards the cave. Upon her return she built a surprisingly successful fire, then stuck the fish on a stick into it. Her mouth watered as she watched the fish cook slowly. Thankfully the berries had taken the edge off her hunger earlier.
