Well, last year I grew some big (to me) pumpkins and wanted to branch out. This year I decided on a few melons. These colossal cantaloupe are huge! The excessive rain this week causes some to start to crack, so I needed to pick them early. I have a few more still growing. We also grow giant cabbage every year on the farm. They are great for sauerkraut and golabki (Polish Cabbage Rolls).

The melon I'm holding is over 22lbs. the one by my foot is over 18lbs. For reference, the "small" melons are standard size Hales Best.

WE have grown big cabbage for years, but they are always impressive. This one we picked yesterday was 19lbs. Plus the 14.5lbs of blackberries 😁

our greenhouse is too hot in the summer, we use it to start our seeds for fall planting in there then transplant them. We do grow in the green house in the fall/winter.

We picked another big melon last night. Personal best at 27 lbs. The 4" of rain was causing the melon to split, or I would have left it a while longer.

Pretty awesome.

Now you have a really good chance to learn how to store and preserve it too.

That is really fun that you shared that with us so we could see it too.
