Goat pellets vs whole grains and other thoughts about feed.

I have 16 goats and only feed commercial pellets at kidding & during early lactation. Once the kids start creep feeding, I cut back on the mommas feed. I am in Louisiana with a nearly
year round growing season. The commercial pellets are more reliable, quality and supply-wise, than the locally available whole grains.

I fed my goats COB which is rolled corn oats, and barley. I had a dairy. I did not feed the higher protein dairy feeds because my alfalfa was so high in protein. The trouble with whole grains, vs rolled or cracked, is that so much of it goes through the goat undigested.
