I’ve been told that you can tell the sex of Golden Comet chicks at birth by their color. I have 23 chicks, and all have some red in them, but only 3-4 are red all over. I want to know what the experts here think. Do I have mostly males or females? FYI: I know I’m about to have to buy a larger waterer and feeders.

So, if i'm understanding this right, even though it's predominately yellow/white, if it has any red in it it's a female? I'm really not trying to be dumb here. I'm just hoping I don't end up with 20 roosters and 3 hens...LOL.

I'm still learning as I go, and the people on here are so full of knowledge its amazing. With that being said, my 4 buff orpingtons i got turned out to be RSL🤦‍♀️. Because they are RSL they can be sexed immediately from what everyone here has told me. Looking at your pic....my eyes see pullets because of the red feathers coming in and darker heads. I can't see the chick behind the ramp. Ill show you my RSL. I have 1 rooster out of the bunch apparently. Please take everything I said as a last resort lol.

I'm thinking that I may have 1 or 2 roosters, but I'm hoping that I'm going to get mostly hens.
