Goose Behavior

I am pretty new to geese. I have one female now (an African), she just started laying about a month ago. She was never very personable, didn't really like to be touched. Now some days when I see her she squats in front of me and puts her wings up (but still folded against her body), I think similar to a chicken squat. When she does it I scratch under her wings and she just stands there. I just want to know why she is doing it??

I had a single female duck who squatted like that around me. My geese don't do that for me, but they have ganders around.
