Also, they start eating more hay and nursing less, so there is some tapering off. The mares would turn the foals away after a certain point.

they actually started "testing" out grass/hay/treat at about a week old and were actively eating both by 3 or 4 weeks plus nursing. And honestly no longer need the milk.
Do the DNA samples have to wait?I can't register the 4 calves until I get the paper work back on their mothers SPEEDY IYAK is NOT.![]()
Good idea in future to put some iodine/water solution in a syringe and squirt it into any pockets formerly full of pus. Flushes out the bacteria.as to why so much iodine I am a firm believer in fully saturating the spot before stopping to make SURE the wound/sore spot is fully coated.
LOL I actually wrote on the pics of Maiah that the red was iodine and NOT blood. SO IYAK people wouldn't be super concerned and call ASPCA on me

yes because I do NOT have the id numbers assigned by IYAK for their mothers and I need that number to register the calves. But then I don't have to ear tag them so soon either and can hold on to the 230.00 it's going to cost the register the 4. 65.oo each.
Are the samples preserved then?
