got 16 pints out of about 5 gal of maters, 1 stalk of celery, a bunch of smaller and not so nice home grown peppers and 8 or so med onions.

do they have plenty roosting area ? Do you give them extra calcium ?

The do. The coop doesn't really have a roof since it's under the mare motel so they roost on the walls of the coop instead of the actual roost perch lol. They are on feather fixer, and do get free choice oyster shell.

yep stewed it all down and then ran thru a food mill, maybe 3 cups of chick feed that didn't grind thru the mill seeds and skins mainly

bring on the yak meat and beans ! LOL

Make them a chicken playground in the paddock.  Places to hide and roost, places to get away from Miss Meanie.  It will also be a great distraction.  Ladders, boards on cinder blocks, stack of old tires, tree branch, saw horse, stumps...    it works! 

I want to but...miss escape artist sparkles...can't have anything that she can hop up on and fly the coop. We have some random pallets, boards and stump though.
