i went to the local "chicken lady" about 5 weeks ago to get my fertilized eggs for hatching. I'm a total newbie to the whole chick hatching thing so i asked how soon the chicks needed grit introduced to their diet and she said not for a while. They'll be 2 weeks old tomorrow and i havent been giving them grit should i start as soon as possible or should i wait? Thanks!

The babies do not need grit until they are given non-water soluble foods...as long as they are on starter feed, they don't need anything but food and water.

Yep, start the chicks of grit when you begin giving them treats. We've never given grit, but that's because the chickens have access to an outside garden area with dirt where they get their own grit from the soil. If you can do that you don't need to provide grit. :)
