hardy egg layer?

i travel alot due to the fact im an indendent contractor/semi driver cross country. my dd takes care of them the best she can while im gone. but when i come home there is something wrong with one of my domestics it seems everytime, adult or chick. colds, eye probs, sickness of some sort. but never my games, always healthy, happy and hardy. anyone suggest a hardy egg laying breed that doesnt take so much attention? and is hardy/disease resistant?

I would recommend some of the heritage breeds. They were in service when conditions for chickens were pretty spartan and they thrived. Wyandottes, Reds, Rocks. There are others less known. But they will be described as Dual Purpose.
