Could someone explain to me what the big deal is about breeding crested to crested with SFH??? It's done all the time with CCL.

Legbars tend to have big crests too but I've never heard anyone not breeding for crests. Just a bit baffled.

.I don't like the look of the crests, to me it makes their combs look funky. That's why I haven't swapped for CL or SFH. Just a personal preference I guess.......

I have read both the argument against the crests getting too large and the possibility of vaulted skulls. I didn't want to take any chances in having poor offspring I had to cull. The one I have from mzstre came from BHep's eggs -- his crest lays back on his head like a bad comb over. We named him after Donald Trump.

He is right up there with the sweetest birds I own. I love his personality. I'm hoping to have more like him. I'd like two or three pullets for him. If someone else knows more about the crest issue, feel free to fill me in.

not all the crested CL and SFH have funny combs though. We have some crested of both who have nice straight combs
