Hi everyone..I've been looking things up on BYC for at least a year now and figured I come on this site enough that I might as well just sign up!

I'm finishing off my second year of raising meat birds, but I'm starting to think I want to get into some laying hens as well as raise some meat birds from some of their eggs. I'm also wanting to change our set up and what not, so I'm loving getting all the awesome ideas off BYC

Meat birds are processed so young, they don't get a chance to lay eggs. As they are hybrids - they would not produce clones .

That's what I was kind of wondering, so I'm wanting to look into some different breeds as well. I'm hoping I can find a breed that I could raise from hatchings that would be good to raise for meat. I'm thinking of having a few laying hens but kept separate from the rooster and a couple birds for raising the chicks. Not totally sure, but I have some ideas rolling around in my head!
Thanks for the reply!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I hope your ideas turn out well for both meat and eggs. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Thank you for the welcoming posts, I'm sure I'll be starting some new forums throughout the next while asking some more questions!
