I recently just moved to one acre and it came with a chicken coop and the previous owners left behind a frizzle rooster and saxony duck! They were best friends and I fell in love immediately! Unfortunately the duck was eaten yesterday by a coyote (he liked to scoot under the gate) and I went out bought two golden comet hens to keep the rooster company because I was worried about his mental health lol. I appreciate everyone here in advance for all my questions! I want to be the best chicken owner I can be.

I would install something to block the bottom of the gate to keep the coyote out. If he tries to dig under the gate, you can install spikes that drive into the ground in front of the gate, like this:
