Hello everyone,
We have had 1 Blue Maran rooster and 4 (what weve always assumed to be) blue maran hens for over a year now. We decided to incubate 18 of their eggs for the first time. 15 successfully hatch but we've got two beautiful different chicks. Im learning through this wonderful site that they most likely are Splash. One is white with a bit of blonde throughout (she was quite the star of the hatchery and very interested in her siblings) and the other (the sweetest chick ever) is a very light almost silvery grey. The wings are almost a light lavender. Are splashes always primarly white or could the light grey one be considered splash? One of our older hens is quite light grey all throughout which made me wonder if she is really a Sapphire Gem but she looked a lot like her siblings when she was a chick. Either way so exciting to have more and Chicken Math is quite strong in this backyard. My husband brought me home a cute Americauna to add to our mix.
