Hi everyone! I'm up in Canada and I've been trolling this site for well over a year, getting excited to one day have chickens, and that day has finally come! I bring home my first flock of tiny day olds tomorrow!

I've got my brooder ready with a mama heating pad (inspired from posts here) and our coop plans have begun, with some materials already here. I will likely post for advice on best use of my coop space once I manage to post a photo of it!

Looking forward to actually conversing with you all here!

And I guess by "trolling" I really mean "perusing" since the current usage of the word trolling is very negative. I'm a happee person!

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

LOL...lots of us "Trolled" BYC long before we joined. LOL But we are super glad you finally decided to make an account!

Congrats on your soon to be new babies tomorrow! How Egg-citing!! Have you stopped by our learning center yet? Lots of great articles on all the aspects of raising your new little ones and keeping them healthy all through adulthood... https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

When you get started on your coop, you can seek advice and help in our Coop and Run Construction forums too... https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/9/coop-run-design-construction-maintenance

Oh and for some ideas, definitely stop by our Coop Pages...coops from our members. You can get lots of ideas there... https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/2/Coops

Make yourself at home here and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Enjoy bringing your babies home tomorrow! Make sure to dip everybody's beaks in the water as you put them in the brooder and place them right in front of the waterer. Hydration is very important to help prevent pasty butt which can kill chicks. Shipping and or driving them home is very stressful on babies, so before feeding them anything, make sure they have plenty of water in them.

Enjoy and welcome to our flock! :)

Hi and welcome to BYC - you have some great advice already so I'll just say hello!
