Hi everyone! I'm new to the site and new to chicken farming, well sort of. We had chickens when I was growing up until I was about 7, so I didn't do much care and handling stuff, but I know basics. We just started our backyard flock this week with 12 chicks. Already I have had to research and cure pasty butt in 2 of my chicks. We bought them at Southern States, who gets them from a hatchery.

Still doing lots of reading and trying to figure out what's going to work best for us.

Thanks for all the information!

Hello from California.

It sounds like you've got a handle on things. You will find BYC to be a virtual fount of information. You couldn't have made your way to a better place.

Good luck with those baby chicks

Greetings from Kansas, Tara, and :welcome !  Pleased you joined our flock!  Glad you have everything under control and that BYC has been helpful.  If you'd like to chat with some local poultry peeps, locate the WV thread in this link:  https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread
Best wishes and thanks for joining BYC!!

Thank you. I will definitely look up the wv group.

We have been researching for almost a year to prepare as best we could. A lot of our help has come from BYC already. I'm sure I'll be returning often for more information

Welcome!

Best wishes to you and your little ones.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
