Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. I was born in Hot Springs, AR, and my grandparents lived there for many years. I still love the Hot Springs area. We have Black Australorps (my personal favorite standard breed), Buff Orpingtons, and Ameraucanas our flock as well. Actually our Ameraucanas are Easter Eggers and not true Ameraucanas as true Ameraucanas lay only blue eggs. Our Easter Eggers are my granddaughter's favorite chickens. She loves the different colored eggs they lay. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.Hello,
I am from NW Arkansas, I won 6 chicks in a contest at my local food co-op. I have a Cuckoo Maran, Americauna, Austrolorp, two Buff Orpingtons?, and a Silver Laced Wyandotte.
I found your post on the Emergencies, Diseases, Injuries, and Cures thread and answered it. Hopefully that will stimulate others to answer. The symptoms of your chicken seem like those of Rickets, which is a nutritional problem in young chickens caused by an imbalance or a lack of calcium, phosphorus and vitamin D3. There is a good article on the causes, symptoms, prevention, and treatment of Rickets at http://www.hobbyfarms.com/livestock-and-pets/rickets-in-chickens.aspx. Hope this helps.I actually did post in the forum, the reason I finally got to starting my account was because of sick chick advice. I think I need to create a more effective post though, I haven't gotten any replies yet...
My stimulation seems to have worked. Someone else has answered already. ) Hopefully you will get the answers you need and be able to treat your chicken. Good luck.I found your post on the Emergencies, Diseases, Injuries, and Cures thread and answered it. Hopefully that will stimulate others to answer.
