I'm so with you on that! I was trying to figure out when one of my gold/white EE hens got such dark feathers on her shoulders....finally realized it was from the rooster's muddy feet...and here in rainy Oregon, I have NO "white" birds, let alone the watermelon stains.
Actually, amazingly, they keep whiter than I thought they would.
