First time chicken mom. I started with 2 and would like to get 1 or 2 more. I was told I had a barred rock pullet but I’m starting to think otherwise. Please help confirm, I’m not allowed roosters in my town. I have a few pics below from now and 3 weeks ago when I got them. I feel like my camera makes it brighter and look lighter in color.

I had a barred rock chick and was told that in most cases the chicks that have a large white dot on their head might be a male. Mine did have a large white dot and now that he feathered out I can confirm that he is a male.

I can't say positively, but it looks like a pullet to me. I've had barred rock pullets in the past, but never a cockerel for comparison. By the way, how did you manage to score just 2 chickens? I had to buy 6, and my husband went for 8. It's a far cry from my desired 3 pet hens! With this many, I can't buy a premade coop, so I'll build one from scratch.

Thank you for your feedback!! I just went to a local feed store and told them I was only buying 2 whether they liked it or not. Minimum was 4 so they said I would like to get more eventually but I am seeing how I do with these two. It’s been a whirlwind of emotions from them being so fragile to diagnosing every weird poop! I also live in an urban area and a little nervous of what my neighbors will say but I did all the permits so really I don’t think they can say much.
