Help! Emu chick ate a staple!

But can you bathe your free batches?

sigh No. And I envy pet-emu owners for this. I get nice little pats. But I can't handle or examine my birds. Several times, when they've been injured, this has been a terrible frustration, with me doin' crazy stuff like trying to spray diluted antiseptic onto a wound.

Here are two real favourite photos of mine. It's Eric, the 'original emu' of this project, with chicks Alpha and Omega. They've been for a swim in the dam, and come back to scoff plums.

[Got four one-year-olds here at present. The fifth of the clutch suddenly died. Felicity Emu was here for a few days. But the loggers are also here, and I think she found it spooky. Many of the gums in which the birds have slept over the years are now gone. Che sera.]
